The royal burgh of Culross in Fife is
on the edge of the Firth of Forth, south and west of Dunfermline. It
is a rich collection of interesting buildings and cobbled streets that run
from the ruined abbey at the top of the hill down to the firth.
This fascinating building dates from between 1597 and
1611 and has been carefully restored by the National Trust for Scotland.
The garden to the rear is against the steep hillside and contains a collection
of plants that would commonly have been grow to support the needs of such
a household in the 17th century.
