Culross Palace Interior

   The painted ceiling in this room gives an idea of how the residents managed to merge the beautiful with the functional.
   In order to support the floors above, many of the rooms have vaulted ceilings. The stone would be cold and absorb the heat from the fire in the room unless insulated. the arched wooden ceiling offered such insulation as well as a suitable "canvas" for painting of a decorative nature.
